About

This is who we are

Founded in 1956, Ntare is the dominant boys' school of Western Uganda, academically rigorous, deeply tied to Ankole heritage, and the alma mater of presidents, generals, and prime ministers.

Today it serves 1,200 students alongside 105 teaching staff.

A message

From the headmaster

The Headmaster

Ntare boys leave here marked. The standards we hold them to, academic, moral, and personal, shape lives long after the gates.

The Praecip verdict

Western Uganda's flagship, political pedigree, academic rigour, deep alumni reach

What stands out

Ntare's alumni roll reads like a Who's Who of post-colonial Ugandan public life, and the school still produces leaders. Academic results are excellent and the boarding culture is genuinely formative.

Where it falters

Some buildings need refurbishment. Tech infrastructure is improving but lags newer private schools. For families in the West wanting Budo-tier prestige without the journey to Wakiso, Ntare is the answer.
